Midlands Wedding Supplier Network Event 2014

I am very excited to invite all Midlands Wedding Suppliers to a fabulous and unique networking event on Thursday 30th January 7-930pm at The Belfry nr Sutton Coldfield.

The event will be very similar to the Warwickshire Wedding Supplier evening which was held in January of 2012 and was so well attended.

The Belfry has recently undergone a 24 million pound refurbishment and looks amazing - there will be tours throughout the evening to wedding professionals interested in recommending the hotel to clients for their weddings. The facilities available to guests are really first class and the hotel are very keen to highlight this on the evening.

The Midlands Wedding Supplier Network Evening will be a very informal and relaxed networking evening - bubbles, nibbles and entertainment and open to all Midlands Wedding Suppliers. This is a unique event in the Midlands and a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent we have available locally.

We anticipate a big turnout on the night so please register sooner rather than later.

To register please contact me on lisa@purewhiteweddingcompany.co.uk and I will forward details. For more information on The Belfry please go to www.thebelfry.co.uk .

See you there on the night! Lisa x

A Tale of a Wedding Planner, a Candle and the Father of the Bride!

For todays post I thought I would share with you a cautionary tale of a Wedding Planner, a Candle and the Father of a beautiful bride I had the pleasure of working with recently.

Weddings can be funny events - there is so much emotion running throughout the day - especially leading up to the ceremony itself. Grooms pace nervously waiting for the arrival of their bride, the bride is very often so excited to arrive at the chosen ceremony destination she has no time for the nerves to appear (a few glasses of fizz helps them on their way!). Parents of the bride and groom are full of excitement and relief that the day has actually arrived - no more wedding planning!!

My bride arrived at the Church with her father looking amazing! Her father was beaming with pride - his only daughter was getting married. After an utterly gorgeous wedding ceremony complete with choir boys , the Dean was finishing and the Bride and Groom were ready to walk back up the aisle as Man and Wife. Suddenly a wedding guest appeared at the Alter with a bottle of water and covered the Father of the Bride with said water.

It appeared the Father of the Bride had been standing too near a candle and the guest had spotted the suit beginning to burn. The FOB was so desperate not to spoil his daughters wedding day he wanted to wait until she had walked back up the aisle......

Now - as a Wedding Planner it is my job to ensure that any problems on the day are dealt with. This was a situation nobody could have planned for. I had my Mary Poppins Emergency Case (a must for every Wedding Planner) which is equipped with many objects from plasters, antiseptic cream, wipes and spare buttons but nothing which was suitable for very bad burns. After asking if any of the guests had a medical background we managed to ease the discomfort on a temporary basis and sent him to casualty.

All guests moved onto the champagne reception (which the poor Father missed), rearranging photographs with the wonderful Daffodil Waves and putting back timings for dinner did not dampen any spirits though.

It was wonderful to see Father of the Bride reappear - just in time for the main course! Patched up and eager to start his speech.....

Candles are beautiful at weddings - and can add stunning lighting.... but I have now added a roll of cling film to my emergency Mary Poppins bag! The best thing for burns.....

Having a Wedding Planner to assist in any situation on your wedding day really is an investment!
